Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. OK folks. I have been very bad again. So you better give me the naughty treatment along with my mother.
I am in time out for talking back to her. Well, it only took 40 years (I am 51).
Mom gave me a nice back hand for that mouth (when I was 11ish) and it never happened again. It was the only time she hit me and the last.
As you know, she no longer has a car. She could not get to it by herself or see well enough to drive. She was happy to be taken places in my car. She even said she could not manage driving any longer. I am assuming she has forgotten.. Now that it is warmer, she feels better and is mad to be so dependent. She feels she has to wait to be taken places. She is a prisoner in the home. It was days of nag nag nag. So I said " take a cab if you don't like it." I knew it was not productive to answer back but believe me, I did not say what I really wanted to say. Yikes if I had!!
So, she is not speaking to me, the pets, or the plants in the house. Poor dogs are moping around downstairs all ignored. Plants are losing leaves, and I am tip-toeing around on squeaky floors. lol
Dont worry, she will be OK soon. We (she) have a tooth to get pulled Tuesday. Until then, I am sitting in the punish chair.

Does that mean I gotta have my mouth washed out for mumbling the word "d*amn" when I dropped moms snack on the floor the other day in her presence?

I have to disagree that your comment was "counter productive". They tend to forget that we are human beings with lives too.
Plus, it is a reasonable suggestion if she just can't wait for you to drive her.
You will have to move over and let me fit too.
You are all welcome to join me in my time out. Bring snacks would ya?
Maybe a veggie tray please.

I'm teetering on snapping like a twig myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost did over the weekend.
Wherever this party is, I'm there! I'll be the one stumbling in....
It has been a nice break from the reality at my house. Things have gotten better, Mom gets a tooth out tomorrow so she is playing nice...for now.
