My angel mom (94)gets weaker by the day it seems,yesterday her legs gave out,landed on her knees!Thank God ,I was right by her side and more importantly nothing was broken.Ive said this before,nothing is more heartbreaking to see your loved ones decline.While Im honored to take care of her,its emotional torture.Also trying to get some calories in her is a challenge as well.I love her so much,shes my best friend...

God is with you and mom cinben you are walking and leading your mother into his arms no love greater then this to love your mother so much then to suffer along with her during this time. Apagae is true compassion beyond sympathy it is Devine love. It is a love that willingly shares in the sufferings of another because you love so much. Mercy yields much fruit for you and your mother God will not leave you empty when you pour yourself out through love. God guide you on this narrow road you are on know that he is with both of you never lose sight he walks with you and guides you and your mother

Cinben I can feel your pain. It's hard to watch the decline and be helpless to stop it. My best advice is continue as you are but also make sure mom is receiving adequate pain management. Often elderly people won't complain or might not even recognize what they feel is pain. Blood pressure can be a good indication of discomfort.

As Trojan said none of us live forever. All we can do is try to make this time as easy as possible for our loved ones.

Most doctors recommend two boosts each day for the vitamins and nutrients, plus the much needed protein. Has the doctor recommend that at all? That is what my mom's doctor and nurse have her on now. Many hugs Gramybear

SO very much like my own situation, Cinben. My mom is also 94 (and 1/2) and she also is having weakness in her legs, and elsewhere. Today had hospice nurse out to give her a breathing treatment (morphine in the nebulizer, of all things!) which helped a bit. But she is terribly weak. And yes, it is just awful to see her decline this way - after only one week at home after rehab. Dang! She did good in rehab... but now, well, it's a definite weakening. I wish I could say she's my best friend, as you do, but she is not now the woman I loved so much growing up and as an adult. Still, she's a good person and I do love her and wish she weren't suffering so much.
