Hey, I'm Joe. My friend's parents are currently residing in Canada, and he is working in the USA for many years. Now his parents got old, so they are planning to move from Canada to the USA to stay with their son for the rest of their life. Since he has a busy work schedule, He doesn't have enough time to come and get them from here. Since they got old, they are not able to do all the moving process alone. He is worried about their moving, he wants the relocation process stress free for his parents. As I'm his best friend he asked me to help them. So I'm planning to approach firms providing relocation services especially those which providing the USA moving service. I didn't have any experience with such firms. So I'm not sure which one is good. If you have any experience with such firms, I would like to hear from you. Can anyone help me with suggesting such firms if you are aware of it? Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
Has this been approved through immigration? … I guess what i'm asking is has he done all of the work that will be involved in this and had them approved for the move
I think that there are a lot of moving companies that would probably move their possessions physically.... You'd just have to google moving companies and check ratings
And then buy them plane tickets if they're flying or look up caregivers if you want someone to bring them to the location
I would look up an agency if you want a caregiver to bring them
As for general moving ideas, I helped a LOT of friends move when I was in my 20s and 30s. (I was that guy who had a truck, ... ) Have them pack a subset of their things as if they were going to live in an unfurnished apartment for a month. (Clothing for the weather, things to cook with and eat from, etc). Then move that stuff FIRST into the place they will be living at. Once that stuff is there and unpacked, THEN the rest can be moved.
CHERISHED ITEMS SHOULD BE MOVED SEPARATELY!
I agree with lining up health care ahead of time. It may take time to qualify for US healthcare like medicare (and it may take citizenship or permanent residency status, not at all sure), and Canadian health insurance may have some difficult rules for obtaining health care out of country.
And what is up with your friend
Despite what it seems, the move is not the biggest demand that will be made on his time relative to caring for his parents. If he is unable to help with the move, how will he be able to help with the rest of their lives?
Make sure you don't get sucked into more than you are ready to commit to.
