Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. Well, my Mom looked at me today and told me to go take a shower and don't forget to wash my glasses so I could see better.
Hmmn, see better than what I thought. So I just said " think I will leave them dirty so if bored can look up and pretend I am looking at the stars."
(yes..I do have some odd humor at times).
It made her laugh and I have missed seeing that. All the while I thought the take a shower was some off the wall tangent. Nope that is my Mom being a Mom.
She probably lapses into her younger years and I am the baby. I was the only one at home for 6 years while growing to college age.
So, my relationship with the parental units was a little more relaxed...well most of the time. I excepted them as is from a young age. Something my sibs can not do to this date. Not my concern just noting their different relationship.
It was nice to have my Mom for a moment today. Wish there were a magic potion to keep her in this state awhile longer.

I know what you mean about the relationship with mom being different. I'm 7 years younger than my siblings so I also had that time at home. I think that is why we are the "chosen" caretaker which I'm sure upsets our older siblings.
