I've just joined today, I'll take the time to read all of the discussions when I can. My mothers common law husband of 17 years just died on August 31st of this year from Lymphoma. He was a great big jolly man who laughed hearty, was kind to everyone and showed that everyday to someone in need, and loved everyone including my sister and myself who he loved like his daughters, we also loved him like a dad since we lost our biological father in 1993. I'm now driving back and forth every second day or every two days an hour both ways to care for my 81 year old mother who also has Parkinsons, I've joined this group because I don't know a single soul who is dealing with this besides myself and am looking for a belonging of some sort, some place, hopefully this will be it. I've dealt with a lot of paper work, and now see to my mothers every need, checking pills, grocery shopping, arranging someone to come and bath her, and some of you likely know how all the rest goes. I'm tired and I'm trying to deal with my own grief as well, and now my mothers, it's exhausting and I'm so sad watching my mother stay in her bed and talk about being afraid she won't make it in life any longer. I have a geriatric mental health professional coming to speak to her next week, but beyond that she's just so lonely and not eating properly in spite of me bringing her meals. She's eating Pringles, bolgona, waffles, sliced cheese, nothing really nutritious, and she won't listen to me. She won't leave the house but that's nothing new, she has anxiety. It's difficult to see her the way she is as she was once a very feisty, out spoken and busy person. Just looking for a little solice here and people who can relate. I look forward to meeting all of you over time.
