Well,I just had my knee replaced,couldnt take the pain anymore.The problem is,these hospitals kick you out in two days!!I tried to explain that my plate is full -with taking care of my 94 y.o. mom.Not a rats ass was given-sure enough when home mom wanted a cup of hot coffee-well try carrying that using a walker,with a level 10 pain scale!Im not liking my life right now....

Who was taking care of your mother while you were hospitalized? Is there anyone, family/friends whomever that could come in a give you a hand for a few days or more? Is your mother capable of doing anything on her own?

There's not a hospital in existence that will keep you under their services once your treatment is performed and you've been cleared to go home. Can you imagine what the cost of insurance premiums would potentially be if they allowed folks to stay for extended periods for whatever reason the patient has? It's a nice thought, but it's not happening, especially now with the ACA.

It can't be easy getting around with limited mobility and in pain trying to take care of an elderly parent. Do you have anyone that can help you out?

Hmmm, I'm tempted to suggest that you "yell" at your mom next time she asks for something. Then after some time passes tell her that you were in intense pain from the surgery and that you are sorry, but she will need to learn how to work with you until you heal to the point where you are more mobile.

Uh, did I just suggest that you fake a temper tantrum?

I won't say ITYS but I did!. Get some help in NOW! There is no way you can handle this alone, and the last thing you want to do is jeopardize your own recovery!

thx peeps-yes mom was in good hands with my adult daughter,my husband is good too-the coffee incident was when the family had to go to work-i think ive spoiled her so much.Today she sat and tried to help fold the clean clothes-she feels helpless for me i guess

can't you get a nurse's aid to come out (on insurance?) and help for an hour or two a day for a week or two?
How about a local teen to be a "step and fetch it" after school for a bit?
Just to help you heal.
hurt yourself now, and the recovery will be delayed!
