Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
I am trying something new. A different type of house keeper. Just happened to find a young college grad working on getting funding for graduate school. So, she is doing some house keeping and child care.
Her discipline is Social Work. I hit the jack pot. Am so grateful.
So, she way understands Moms dynamics. More than I..really. Told Mom that the "girl" would report to her for the to do list. Mom gets to voice what she wants done. What it missed or not right or good also goes on the page next time. It is a mode of communication I had not tried as far as getting Mom to put her feelings down. So the subject is cleaning but the excercise is about trust. I actually thought that part up. The girl decided to use the notebook in case she forgot as well. What a nice week so far. Mom happy that someone has taken an interest in her "things" , conversation, and most of all complaining not falling on deaf ears. AND the house is cleaner.
That so helps.
I am not exactly lazy it is that cleaning became a place of Mom over telling me what to do. She is a control freak anyway. But it took the summer of being off work to understand how afraid she is and that it is compensated for through anger. Truth is that Mom is really confused some days. Just the way it is and easier for someone 22 with listening skills to perceive.
The companionship for Mom is worth its weight. Not very expensive really. It is also good for me to get a break so have started the walking routine that is 20 years late :)

I cant believe she agreed to have someone come in!
Now that Mom has someone else to order about you can catch a little break..
Only trouble is The Momster might start comparing you and "The Girl".

Mom actually said the house is clean enough go away. LOL. Not really but she is making certain there are things to clean next week so she can see her again.
The house is a split level so there is plenty to do downstairs in my world..as I am the house troll and very messy these days.
