Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
Hi, I'm Malinda. My mother is 88 years old now. She is an independent woman, used to live alone in her apartment after my dad's death. But it became difficult to stay alone as she got old. She used to walk from her home to the neighbourhood church every morning with ease. For the past few months, navigating the apartment stairs had become a daily battle. She stopped visiting the church because she was unable to walk very well. I knew the discussion I need to have with my mother. It's hard for me to ask her to leave home because she had that much memories of dad in that home. Even though I asked her to come and stay with me, she refused. I shared my concerns about her everytime I met her. Last week I got a disturbing call. My mother had suffered a mild heart attack and had been taken to the hospital. Now she is in the hospital and getting well. I know when I ask her to move away from home she will never agree with it and I'm not in a situation to stay with her. So I thought about centers that provide service in home palliative care in Toronto. If you are aware of any such centres I would like to hear from you. I'm ready to pay even if it is expensive, but they have to provide proper care and attention to my mom. Expecting helpful information regarding this. Thank you in advance.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

run bye the 7th day ad ventist church
so check it out
there are a lot of bad ones
If you want a live in care giver and don't want to pay fully for professional help a lot of people will hire nurses from countries like the Philippines and pay a nurse more like a personal support worker... I know someone who's doing this now if you want to message me
A lot more people are staying at home now when it's possible
I know, this can be very hard. Many of us have had the drivers license version of this; taking their car away from the because they are danger to themselves and others when they drive.
And I agree with Suncloud, get one of those panic buttons your mom can wear. Some of them are "smart" and can tell if the person has fallen and is non-responsive and will make the call to emergency services automatically.
Gentle hugs
