Regards.
Have talked about the issues with the DR who says dementia takes awkward forms. We are into it but not full time. Mom is very aware of her memory issues and tries to hide it. Not the type of woman to discuss feelings though. Unless you make her mad...yikes.
when she has these moments and they become more intense get a warm wash cloth and lay it on her head and speak ever so softly to her in a comforting voice hold her hand tell her you will never leave her side when she expresses the fear of dieing alone always let her know and see from you that she can trust in your love and tender care
do things that will calm her rub her back, massage her feet tenderly massage her arms and legs and back and speak with a soft tender voice it is always calming and filled with much love that will give her some calmness than after you are done ask her if she feels better?
very good infor from Shur.. Thanks..
It does seem that eve is her active time. And now she cant sleep much at all.
She calls me a bat because I am up at night. Recently, when she was going off to bed, she said she was a bat and going to hang upside down to rest. She has some humor at time. Thankful for that.
I see her taking a lot of benedryl to get sleepy. Has done this for a long time. I wonder if it interferes with brain chemistry such that sleep in interrupted.
Right now, things are calmer. We shall see around the 18th of Feb how things are. Will write about it then. Thanks for your ideas thus far.
It is so nice to have a space to share
Mom's feeling anxious for a reason....meds are a bandaid but try to figure out what the core issue is. Is she feeling isolated? can you bring her to an adult day center or senior center? Reach out to your local dept of aging.
