Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
Hope things work out!
ONE aspect called "limit." Can not get her to recognize we may face this limit and need a plan. What money, what asset, etc. None of it is really getting through. Because it has never happened in her life and therefore does not exist.
I knew we were doomed when she read through Humana and Medigap as though it were a brochure. What a vay-kay this will be should we ever reach this point.
Realize also that my Mom is somewhat cynical and thinks she will be
"long gone" before any of this will happen.
Good luck with that one Mom and thanks for the talk! NOT.
Dont worry, I will not give up or give in. I shall regroup and make a master plan (since my parents plan is a bit under par).
There is more but still in the middle so will revisit this thread in a couple days.

At least I know what she has to work with and where we can go. It would be so much better if she could help make some choices while seemingly lucid. I mean, she can repeat and stay to patterns but the finite understanding leaves her and she gets the "deer in head lights"
look...and starts squabbling about something to divert/ hide her confusion.
My sibs are all childish and cause trouble in her life. Because they have nosed around looking for money, wanting and demanding to read the trust, Mom has become paranoid and secretive. Imagine trying to reassure her and get POA started. She was distracted by Dads death and saw it was a reasonable tool since I was now Trustee. My sibs had a total fit. I am youngest but they must think I still eat Gerber. (Shhh..Vanilla Custard Pudding my Fav!!)
