Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
First, I have been working on my computers. Broken parts replaced, backed up data, and re-installed Windows. Shew.
Now, add to this:
Went to Attorney a couple weeks ago to update and etc Trust. Hope we pay less for the slow return. Yikes. Left two messages and Mom pacing floor ready to go off on him for being so slow. I told her he will charge her more if she is harsh with him. She cares about money so lets hope we get it done next week and keep her quite when she politely calls names.
And if all of this was not enough to make my shoulders burn with stress..
My sister is once again manic (high/hateful), & does not think so. Won't accept my help and this is now the final time. It has reached new levels way out of my scope of healthfulness. Especially overseeing my Mother. My Mom by email tried to suggest some calming down idea that was fuel to the flame. Kaboom. This brought 7 emails in one day from sister that were at least 200-300 words each. Rambling her past feelings and gross attacks on family and parents. My Mom was so weary from this that the idea of a turkey and trimmings were too much.
Mom became so negative and hateful. Of course, I understand she is out of whack from my sister. I mean.. just spent. As I.
So, in order to give her space, had to cook -Tgiving in the basement using roaster, microwave, table top burners and toaster over. Did all away from her knowing. How she did not smell it amazes me.
Found Mom sulking T-giving Day around 4PM. My Dad died on T-giving Day. So, we have the numeric date plus the Thursday of Thanksgiving to get through. No One called to wish her Happies.
Finally, her email friends sent cards and notes. No relatives.
She was shocked to see all the food hoofed upstairs onto the table.
It perked her up a bit. Not a happy just a look of comfort finally. The best she could do. It's honest and I get it.
Friday she finds out that her SS check will be 59 dollars less a month.
She had a fit. It took till Sat a.m. for me to learn that she wanted to know how much less a year this was short and multiplied times 120 rather than 12. She is losing her eyesight moreover.
Shew....right? Going out tonight to dance off some turkey and sweet potatoes. How I am able to deflect this drama and carry on is a mystery.

I hope your sister calms down quickly. I can also relate to crazy sister..lol. Mine I just ignore, of course I still have to deal with the fallout when she gets to mom.
But my hat is off to you for being so clever in preparing your down under sneaky thanksgiving feast!
