Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
Well, finally have a few routine events working back into my life. I was sick then the computer was (virus) then the router.
So, I really wanted to get to the Drive in before it closes for the season. Mom said she would come with. Rare to bring her or that she would go. But it was a triple bill and leaving her at night alone for 6 hours not a great idea.
We had a good time. Brought a picnic. And I was able to tell her that we at the place in her care that she will either have to come places with us or
have someone sit with her for evening and late nights. She did not argue but I may find that she does not recall that conversation. I still think she was willing to go with because dementia kicked in on my behalf for once.,, LOL
I mean, she would never have gone in her more coherent mind-health.
To my surprise, Mom laughed through the movies. One of the movies was
The Millers. I had no idea what it was about. Oops we know now. Glad she laughed and it didn't offend her. Shew.

Surprising....my mom loved it too (whew).
I never know what to expect with my mom and she doesn't have dementia.
My mom went to see "The Butler" with her friends...said she didn't like it. *shrugs.
Glad you were able to enjoy yourselves :)
I wouldn't worry about her remembering the conversation. Next time you have something to do you give her a choice to come or that you will have someone to stay with her. I also try not to remind my mom that we talked about something if she forgot. No reason to get her upset that she is forgetting.
But HooRAY for a fun evening out together!
I love picnicking at the drive in. I hope drive ins come back some day.

My Mom almost stopped breathing from laughing so hard. My dad was an anatomist so you can imagine her muse. But the funny thing was that she looked at me and said " your Dad looked like that with prostate cancer...did you see it?" Ahhhh no Mom. Change of subject!
My Mom is a real trip some days. On the one hand funny, reads a lot so can always bring something amazing to a conversation. The other hand can hold the bitter pill. Mean and hateful. If this is ALZ then I met it in her womb....LOL
