Mom's doctor cut her blood pressure med dosage in half and I can't believe the difference in her energy level and balance. It's something I have been hoping they would do for awhile, but her doctor finally agreed with me when her last two readings have actually be quite on the low side, though not dangerously. It really is nice to have her feel better and have more energy and ability to do things.
Her memory hasn't improved any. Yesterday she put out the KU flag instead of the American flag, which she has put out every day for 40 years at this house. I just left it and today she put out the right one. These things will happen, and I am reading yet another book to help me deal with situations that come up in the right way. I don't want to embarrass her, or even to expect too much from her. Nor do I want to expect that I can change her, help or make her remember things better. She is very repetitious in things she asks or tells me, but I am getting used to that. I just act like it's the first time I've heard it, or gently remind her that whatever it is has been taken care of or will be. Sometimes it is almost funny what she does, but we have to be aware of things that she may do wrong that could have bad results. Mostly, patience and knowing what to expect are the most helpful tools for me to help her best.
