has anyone here ever cared for an elderly parent that abused them when they were a kid or stood by and did nothing while their partner abused them as a kid. i'm the latter one. my mom is living with me and she allowed my dad to abuse me physically and emotionally when i was growing up.
now she is living in my house and i am taking care of her. my mom is my friend but this is bringing up a lot of bad emotioanl stuff for me esp. since she hasn't changed. now she is bringing my sibling and brother in law (they treat me like shxt) into my life and is still not acknowledging it or standing up for me.
i've talked to her many times about thsi but she says "all families have problems and you have to try to work things out"
or really? these people are highly abusive, unwilling to communicate or comprimise, etc. i don't consider this working things out. i consider this absuse. i would love to go no contact with the whole lot of them.
that's my family. i don't get along with any of them. am i crazy. is this my fault? the only solution is to get her out of here but i can't do that right away.
any thoughts or advice. i'm really stressed and at the end of my rope with all this bullshit.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

You can't change that.... If you're able to I would get into some therapy for you
As far as your siblings go if they're abusive I would let your mom know she can see them at 'their' house but they aren't welcome at yours period
It's up to you who you allow into your home and who you don't..... I would have a talk with your mom and let her know that this has to be the way it is if you can't work things out
Your mom loves all of her children and I'm sure that this hurts her as well.... I am estranged from my brother as well and I wish things were different but they aren't
Big hug and a blessing while you sort things out..... xo
If I do not do them HER way.... she has NO understanding and goes into screaming and yelling, her go to "get me and keep me in line".... that's what worked when I was 12, but doesn't any more.
Now that she's getting older and things are starting to happen that she needs help, I am struggling w/ going back into a situation where old memories surface and I have to take the abuse or become the daughter that abandons her mother in her time of "need". Who wants that label?
I am starting counseling very soon on how to deal with her before I cut her out of my life completely.
