Does anyone else have trouble with POA for a elderly relative and Bank of America? Everytime I have to deal with them its a problem. I went to the bank today to set up an online account for my mom's bank accounts. They told me I wasnt allowed to set up an online account as POA. When I got home I called the customer service number and asked why I cant have an online account. The woman said I could if mom gets on the phone while I'm in the bank and says ok to me setting the account up. The POA papers give me permission to do moms financial stuff. She already gave permission through that. The woman said its up to mom if she wants to share her passcode with me. She doesnt have a passcode. She doesnt even know how to use a computer. This is only the latest thing that makes me angry about Bank of America. My husband had a terible time trying to get POA set up with this bank as did I. Now this.

They also wanted me to have my mom sign it over! She's 98 and delusional!
I should have forged her signature long ago.

Depending on your banking institution and their policies, the POA could be a hassle. The easiest way to get around all that nonsense is to just add yourself onto your mother's accounts. That way there's no hassles. That's what my mother and I did on her accounts. You could from home set up an online account for your mother and give yourself access. It'll be whatever you set the username and password for. That's another easy fix to BOA bologne...

When we were getting my parents finances sorted out they had accounts at three different banks.
The other two took my POA paperwork no problem!
BOA made me drag my parents in and made us sit there for two hours with my Dad yelling the whole time.
