Just went through my mom's scrapbook of her trip to visit me in Hawaii in 1968... OMG!! What a walk down memory lane. How absolutely wonderful. She kept such detailed delightful notes! And how I deeply regret not getting to this project while she was still healthy and intact. Who knew we didn't have much time??? Message to all: DON'T WAIT!!!

Now she's incoherent, sleeps almost constantly, drugged. But I have had a few good moments with her today where she was semi-conscious, looking at me, holding my hand, even squeezing it... when I told her I love her and know she loves me, reminded her of other good memories, thanked her for the dance classes, the piano lessons, always being there for me, for being such a wonderful mom. I think she was hearing me... her eyes (or one of them) seemed to be with me. It's a very hard time, seeing her this way... but going through that album, seeing her in her prime with flower leis around her neck, smiling for the camera and sunbathing on the beach, well, that really made me remember all the wonderful past with her. Sad, sad times right now....
