so mom started feeling warm to me-normally her hands are like ice!I spoke w/dr. and took a urine sample in the office,im hoping a uti is the culprit,shes had them in the past.Maybe thats what accounts for the lack of appetite,malaise etc..

oh, that is a good catch.
did you see my post about our new thermometer being wrong? i thought my mom was having a crisis...and the thermometer was low by 2 degrees!
Good for following your instincts. can't hurt to check.

Yes. I am totally amazed by how much a" simple" UTI can mess with an old person! Good that you caught it quickly whatever it turns out to be.

Wow, I never realized how much a UTI could mess with old people. They told my mom she had one in the hospital but they weren't going to treat it...I wonder why not. They obviously think she'll get rid of it on her own but that seems strange to me. Anyway, I hope you found the answer.

My MIL, who I am carer for, has had urinary tract infections chronically for several years.
(She actually needs that surgery which lifts the bladder back up, but she is 90 with a heart condition, so not a surgery candidate)

UTI's can be extremely serious, and are common in older women! Please take it seriously and ask her Doctor to order a UA on a regular basis.

Im happy to report,that the antibiotics have kicked in-and mom is doing much better!Yes uti's in our geriatrics are really serious.Shes so funny,shes "i guess Im not ready to go sweetie"!

Wow, I'm wondering if my mother hasn't had other UTI's in the past. Also how long might she have had this one?

She's always been so obsessively crazy we never noticed the change in her behavior until she was totally out of it.

Just another reason to hate her dr. I told him her symptoms weeks before. He should have known.

Now I do and will check often.
