Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
I do agree that home care agencies are a good thing- i used to run one. I have since left the "rat race" and have become a private caregiver though...and i have a master's in gerontology- i just wanted to focus more on helping people instead of helping some big corporation. I charge less than the agencies do and i won't go into the quality of care issue. Do you have someone you know/trust? Someone who can give you a solid recomendation? or do the work themselves? For example...i do not advertise- my clients are strictly word of mouth, and i stay busy.
Check with your ins company to see what is covered and make sure you talk to her doctor before he/she fills out any paperwork from the insurance agency to make sure you are both on the same page about her daily needs.
Take care, you are in my thoughts through this tough time
We will have more DR appointments coming up. The falling into the bush was part of the situation. And that she got away from the person with her. She has more strength in her legs than people know,
She will pull herself with feet when in a wheel chair to get away. Also, motorized carts and shopping beats any cardiac workout I have experienced. She does it for attention and to act out. It all spells ( I want my freedom!!).
