my own experience in anxiety. My son had a seizure and his temperature dropped as well as aspirating on stomach contents. I was terrified of leaving him. What if something happened again?... gradually i had to let it go. Realising that something could possibly happen but there again it may not. I couldn't live in that constant state of anxiety any more. It was making me ill. I hope that once you start back you'll begin to relax. Trust that others will do their very best for your wife.
Give it a week or so; the work schedule will fall into place and then you'll see that the tension will wane.
