I'm not sure if this is the right group but was told to try here. I'm on SSD and have been staying at an assisted living facility because I am alone and have been having ongoing health problems, I was recently handed an eviction notice because I havent paid full rent for several months, I was told there is no where cheaper and I was given 5 days to pay. No one has been able to help and I'm trying not to panic.

there are places that only take a % of your income as rent (30% i think i was told?)

i dont know anything about them, but, maybe you can find one near you?

I was told something similar but when I called the licencing department for residential care I was told that because it was a private business that they can charge what they want.

hmm, im afraid im not very good at that sort of thing but it seems like you should be able to find something... maybe look closer to a bigger city?

Im not sure if this will be of any help to you but .... I would call aging and disablity service agency... the county office for department of human services and places like that to see if they can help find resources for people that recieve SSD im guessing its different in every state and im not sure what is in your area. In my area years ago i worked as a nurse and i remember that funding was very difficult to find for private ran facilities but I would start calling social service type agencies to get some advice on who you would call in your city and state. Wishing you luck in finding help meeting your housing needs.
