Well my mom has been recovering from hip replacement surgery for about 2 weeks now and apparently thinks she should be running marathons. I understand it was easier last time - ten years ago - but every surgery is different...and she's ten years older. She saw the surgeon today and he told her she is doing just fine and will not need a walker or even a cane the next time he sees her, in three weeks. This is helpful, she sees the light. She is so sick of sitting at home doing nothing but physical therapy. She hasn't gotten around well for some time but now she really can't get around. Wish I could do more for her but I can't. At least she is now coherent. Her memory has been going for quite a while but after surgery she was completely gone mentally. I know that is not unusual but still a little scarey. I keep reminding myself how lucky we both are because it will get better. Anyway, it's slow and I just feel helpless.
