My common-law husband has c.o.p.d and he won't quit smoking. He also has hepatitis C. We have not been intimate for a long time because of his illness. I am wondering how some caregivers out there deal with this. I am 51. I love him still, and I know if I were to go elsewhere it would hurt him so much, but I get sad when I think of living for who knows how many years without it.

Talk to him> What does he say is the problem? Is counseling an option?

Hi, I am also 51 years old. My husband is also very disabled. I guess I've just learned to "stuff it" sexually because he can't--- and I surely wont look elsewhere because I love him too much. It is sad, but, you know, sex isn't everything.

Love though, is everything. It's about looking into each other's eyes. Saying "I Love You", holding and squeezing hands. Sharing hugs. It's enough for me, right now.

Hang in there, and hope you will be able to deal with it.

This is a problem I've struggled with for years due to my wife's ailments. I've been with her for 25 years and would never do anything to hurt her, but how you take care of yourself while taking care of someone else? Are you to give up everything?

This is a touchy subject, and one I don't know if you want to hear from a guy on. I found things that help, but I don't know if I should talk about them in a post I don't know that's crossing the line
