Received a call last Friday that the nursing home was taking my wife to the hospital. The results from a urine and blood test showed she had a UTI and renal failure. She was admitted and is still in. Yesterday I asked the nurse about her condition and she said the kidney damage was caused by the nursing home giving her too much naproxen for pain. The damage to her kidneys cannot be fixed. I haven't had to time to post, its just been too busy. They've had her on antibiotics IV since Friday. They are also trying to keep her hydrated to help increase her kidney function. Saturday night when I arrived at the hospital she was crying so hard. I just held her and tried to comfort her. She said, "I'm tired. Tired of dr.'s, wires and tubes, being poked and prodded and being "in a box". I feel sorrowful for her. Her mind is better because the UTI has been treated, which is good. But her depression only gets worse each day she's away from her home. She told me she may never see her home again. One day she told me her "legs don't work". They have pumps on them so she doesn't get blood clots. I'm building a wheelchair ramp but I fear it may not be used by her. I take it one day at a time. The plan for her is to go back to the nursing home and rehab some more. I've lost a lot of weight due to not eating. I have an infection in my knee that's being treated. I am overdoing it despite my best efforts to take it easy. I am also fighting depression. I seem to come out of it for a day then right back into it the next. But I am trudging along. I keep praying that she will find rest and peace. I know God hears me. Thanks for letting me talk about this.
