My mom, brother, and I have been taking care of my dad for the last 2-3 years or so. He's always been a sick fella but now things are somewhat different. This evening, I got called to his room along with my brother and the rest of my immediate family and he announced that he has decided to go on hospice...he is 52 years old. The news almost made me faint. Tbh I still feel numb throughout my body as I'm typing this. It feels unreal. I understand that it's his choice and I must respect it, but God do I hate it. I'm only 20 years old...he won't get see me graduate from college. I'm still crying as I type this. Honestly the news triggered my suicidal thoughts back. I just feel so lonely and empty inside I could just die with him.
Your very young, and... so is your dad.
It is his decision, but it affects you all.
Take what ever videos you can now. Someone sitting next or near him etc.
I'm the only one that did that with my mom. And now that she's gone, those short little videos mean a lot to all of us.
I'm so sorry and I know your hearts breaking. But don't have bad thoughts.... Remember the good and how he wants you to live and go on.
He's not gone yet.... And this will be the time to make sure HE knows how much he was loved and appreciated.
Be strong for him.... This is not easy for him either.
