The challenges of a caregiver are unique and sometimes it's hard to find people to talk to who know what you're going through. Join the conversation and find others who...
Pets are family to alot of us and it sounds like you are a wonderful kind pet owner. I hope your cat passes peacefully in his sleep like you wish.
Please feel free to share your worries, concerns or sadness with us here. This is a good group and we support each other in both good and bad times.
Hugs, Phoebe :-)

I know it's very difficult to do because I've been there, but it sounds like it may be time to put your cat to sleep to end the suffering. There comes a time when we have to let go because it's best for the animal not us, no matter how difficult.
Do take care. Hugs, Dan
I'm sorry to hear about your cat. Mine might have died last year if I hadn't gotten advice from somebody on this site.
Catnip tea for a cat's bad stomach.
Pedialite when a cat throws up, to get his vitamins back.
the vet told me to buy papaya pills, for his stomach, with me just dropping one in water, cause cats and pills...
on this site just a couple days ago of omega 3 fish oil, for people and cats; gonna go to pet smart tomorrow for some.
my cat and me both had some catnip tea last night, which seemed to knock us both us....the reason for this late reply.
yeah, I am starting to think of quality of life for my cat. I could handle if he "just" went in his sleep tomorrow; me having to make a deliberate decision bothers me.
he's using the litterbox, eating, napping, able to get on chairs, purring, today....yesterday was all day meds and such hell.
when my cat stares into space, like yesterday, I know that's bad news; right now he's napping, after various meds.
maybe if I would have had some loving humans in my life in the past, I might not be reacting the way I am to a cat; I just hate seeing him in pain.
For most of the week my apartment was a mess, though even when my cat was throwing up, the place was cleaner. me re-arranging stuff, so less memories of what my apartment looked like for years. stuff thrown away, though slowly by week, to stretch it out, cause its gonna take me awhile to get this out of my system. "self-medicating" for a few weeks before the worst happens---with a letter today from my dr of "abnormal" urine test I took. Was days for me to even want to be in my apt; sitting and pacing in a nearby half empty restaurant was better; I thanked the owner a couple times for putting up with me. And, no shame about talking to store cashiers about this! A week later, I wish my cat was still here, but I'm also glad he's out of pain, and my 24 hours a day worrying about him are over with, too. And, I might as well admit that I cried a lot, too.
I realize, for people caretaking for people that it's like being in the twilight zone, to read about taking care of a cat, but he was in one third of my life, with me around him about 20 hours a day, with no humans for my family.
Maybe others can get something out of this too, for when the worst happens in their life.
Don't know if you've ever read the poem "The Rainbow Bridge" but it is beautiful. Check it out my friend.
Big hugs and understanding, Phoebe :-)
one scary/crazy way of getting over my cat is for me to now start taking drastic care of my own health, after letting it go during depression/worrys over cat.
everybody who is a caretaker should make sure to take care of their own health at same time, as hard as that might be.
