A voluntary caregiver is a spouse, relative, friend or neighbor of a disabled person or child who assists with activities of daily living and assists those unable to fully take care of themselves. i have almost called it quits several times in my marriage.my wife and i do nothing together anymore.
we used to do everything together , from cuddling to going out. now its just sitting around at opposite ends of the living room and watching tv.
i find myself missing my wife even though she is in the same room as me.
i wish i could offer you some good advice. all i can tell you is your husband is suffereing and just love him anyways. and try to be patient.
i hope things get better for you
If your husband won't go to counseling, then YOU GO! I did just that & am stronger for it now.
It is sad, I know, to have your marriage change on such fundamental levels. You didn't sign up for life to be this way, yet the reality is- it is this way.
I found a personal coping mechanism that I've been using outside of counseling- The Serenity Prayer. It has helped me deal with situations & find strength within myself.
I wish you much peace in your heart, and much love from me to you to stay strong.
Hugs, MelodyJane
Communicating to your husband what you need and want is very important, and you've done that. Now it's up to him to do what he's physically able to do to provide you those needs. If he doesn't do so, then do seek the outside counseling even if he won't participate. Hopefully, he will join you in the counseling.
I do wish you the best. Hugs & prayers.
We're going to try my idea of writing one thing we love about each other every day for the rest of August.
Things aren't going to change overnight but I feel a lot better knowing he's heard me and we have ideas to improve the situation.
Thanks for the responses. I really appreciate knowing I'm not the only one who misses my husband more when he's right beside me than I do when we're actually apart. It's something I didn't want to say out loud for fear of being misunderstood.

We also would thank each every day for something...even if it was simply for marrying. Gratitude goes a long way toward overlooking the annoying things that come up...and they do come up!
Congratulations, it's nice to hear happy endings sometimes :-)
Hugs, Phoebe
Best wishes- keep the positive flowing!
