We had years to adjust to my husband's condition, and I'm a nurse, but still, 'cirrhosis ' is a big word,
and it's so hard to see the one you love go thru these changes...you didn't say? does he drink?
My Carlos gave up drinking and the drugs more than 20 yr ago, but still, his liver was damaged.
(I also lost my brother to this disease last year)
keep writing.. we all care, and all our best thoughts and prayers are with you.
Once the doctors have figured out a plan to stabilize him, you will turn into a 24-hour nurse. If he has the personality to want to get involved in his illness, then find as much as you can to educate him. You will be learning about it--why shouldn't he?
At this stage, I would say all you can try to do is work on his diet: no salt, no fried foods, no bulky protein, lots and lots of vegetable broth with leafy greens in it. Keep cold packs in the fridge and cold wash cloths ready for when his temperature spikes. There's lots of ammonia running through his bloodstream, and when it gets to the brain, that's when the shakes and confusion come on. If he will let you massage his legs with a soothing oil like lavender do that. Don't give him any herbal teas that "relax:" I found out that valerian and camomile are very bad for a diseased liver.
Everything you have mentioned can be managed and controlled with care. And as I have said elsewhere, watch the medications he is being given and learn about their side effects. Quite often these meds can create problems of their own.
Along with Carloswifey, I send my best thoughts and prayers to you. Be careful not to let this absorb your life and cut you off from the world. I did that, and it was a mistake.
I watch my husband everyday and he get very gray at times and

Sometime are more like a teenager. Same as his logic sometimes.
The doctors tell him to quit drinking and smoking but he refusing to do it.
I get so stresses watching him hurt himself.
Sometimes I just dont know what to do.

The pain he is in is so debilitating that he gets no relief and that along with the alcohol
Keeps him depressed.
