Hey, a thought. With all of the online training available, you might be able to add a bit of specialized training to round out your skill set.
Also, if you are out of work right now, I've got an idea.
Are there any non profits around that you could do some internship/volunteer work for, to show that you still have a hand in the game? You could also do a internship/volunteer project for local government maybe.
