My prayers are with you, you have some hard choices to make and speaking from my own experience you don't really need to give up one for the other so long as you have your priorities in order.

Yes, have an ambitious drive, there are so many avenues to take; go to work on getting a degree, take a class or two at night, work during the day, write a sentence or two perhaps even a paragraph while eating your lunch; be willing to make sacrifices.

Remember it is better to be slow and steady with purpose than to be fast running in the wrong direction. I have a fast car and I have that need for speed when I'm under the wheel, but I can't begin to count how many times I blew right past my exits.

One thing I know to be true if you don't follow your rightful path in life, the thing you are passionate about, your purpose; you will wonder endlessly in this world with feelings of despair, a sense of hopelessness.

So whatever you decide to do make sure it's for the right reasons and be right and always, always remain on the path that will lead you to your intended destination. The ticket to get there is of no charge, but if you get off at the wrong stop, getting back on course is usually very costly; some never get back.
