Ok the easy part of applying for a job is the application but I am more confused than ever about what to do after that. Usually I call after a week and check on the status of my application but a lot of the time all I hear is "If they are interested they will contact you" and I never actually get to talk to the person in charge of hiring. Some people say go to the company and check on the application but I've heard companies don't like that either. So I'm confused as to what to do after the application. What would any of you suggest that I do afterwards?

the whole hiring and applying is one big joke!
Yes actually go back in an show your face at least twice within a two week period...and call at least 4 times within a 3 week period and ask for the manager...If you do this which has worked well for both for both of my older kids ..I would bet you , you will be turning down jobs as they call you back because they know you are interested...
Persue and fill out apps with major companies...You look like a big guy kinda muscular why not put in as a merchandiser at some of the major companies and work your way up..getting a class A license...or be relief in sales and make close to 100,000 if not more sometimes...Yeh I look into Budweiser, Kraft, coke, Pepsi, and any major company that is not laying off right now...
Wishing you the best...Persue them until they no longer seem interested...drop off a resume , do anything to show your face at least 2 times..
