Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. I found this site while searching around and thought I might as well give it a shot. About 4 months ago I was in an accident with petrol exploding and leaving me with 2nd and 3rd degree burns over my legs, stomach, arms and back. Only my face came out unscathed. I've just turned 20 and already it feels like life has reached it's peak. After 6 surgeries and a few weeks in a coma I was alive, but as far from it as possible. I lost my girlfriend, my friends, and now live pretty much in isolation, waiting for each day to pass. The only time I leave the house is for extremely painful physio, which is unfortunately the only thing I have to look forward to. Usually I really wish I didn't survive, and even feel anger towards the doctors and surgeons who were able to keep me alive, packing me in ice from head to toe and putting tubes down my throat. Tbch I do wish they had just let me be, because this isn't living, it's merely existing, which never seems to be enough for me. I want to enjoy life, but it doesn't feel possible anymore.. I don't go out in public because people stare, everyone stares, and it just feels like I'm no longer a part of society, a kind of outcast.. Anyway, thank you for reading this, if you did, I needed to get this off my chest, I feel like erupting with frustration every time someone stares at me, like theyve never seen what happens to a person who's survived being set on fire. I guess I just wish people were more understanding, and kept their eyes to themselves, I am not on display, I don't wear a sign, I don't want to be judged, I just want to live my life, or what's left of it..

I went to the doctor a while ago to see about my allergies. He rubbed my arm and stuck things under the skin. Nothing. He poked and prodded, his phlebotomist drew so much blood people thought that we were dating. The tests all came back negative. Then one day I went back and I told him that I had found the cause of my allergy. It turns out, I am allergic to betrayal.

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...
The bad news is, people will never stop staring. I have to take myself out of my shoes and try to put myself in theirs. You know what it is like to see something that makes you wonder, or feel sad. You don't know what to say, you don't know to do.
If you look is it rude? Does it look like i'm trying to hard not to look?
People are afraid of what they don't understand. And people with small minds are mean. Don't waste your time caring about what small minds think. I would rather live with burns than be confined in a small mind.
My burns are mostly on my face and arm now. I used to have no hair from the middle of my head forward. All of the hair I have now in the front is from the back of my head. I never wear my hair behind my ears. I have bald spots that I put makeup on every day.
I understand how you feel. Don't let your scars live your life. Be brave. Just keep walking when they look. If they stare, smile.
Do things that make you happy, in the end the fact that you have scars won't matter anymore; and you'll only regret the stuff that you wanted to do but didn't.
