Bullying Support Group
Bullying is the act of intentionally causing harm to others, through verbal harassment, physical assault, or other more subtle methods of coercion such as manipulation. Bullying can be defined in many different ways, but one thing is clear: no one deserves to be bullied. If you or someone you know is coping with bullying, this is the place to share your feelings and get...
I have a twenty year old son, and there are times when he can behave in a very self-absorbed way. I've never seen him act arrogant, macho, or like a bully, thankfully, but I've definitely seen him behave in a way which makes him look very young and selfish because he doesn't stop to consider how his actions and choices could affect others around him. When my husband and I see him behaving this way, we carefully point it out to him and talk to him about it. I just feel this is something that he will grow out of. I see a lot of young people who behave this way. My husband behaved this way when he was young, and thankfully he grew out of it! :)
Maybe people who never "grow out of it" are people who didn't have parents or friends who helped them to see how they were behaving, or who enabled their bad behavior, and so they never "grew up" or changed.
That's my observance and opinion, anyway.
These types are actually the weakest type of person. They have to talk down to everybody else and sort of create this alternate reality where they are supreme in every way.
The reason they act this way is simply because they cannot accept the reality of who they really are. They have to focus everything on everyone else's flaws so that no one gets close to theirs.
After a while some of these people get very good a bullying as a defense mechanism.
My best advice is, ignore all those who bully. Nobody should have the power to make you feel bad about yourself.
