I turned in my bully and I got raked over the coals. I am probably going to lose my job. they told me I was insane and that I was a feminist. They are doing nothing. So bullying is still not taken seriously. Oh well. what else is new. Now my life is in jeopardy. He is a cop and he will find a way to injure me permanently and no one cares. I have gone all the way to the top. I hope I die. I have no family and no friends.

It sounds like you need to talk to a professional. I know that work problems can rob you of everything...but please don't let them take your life.
Most states have a Labor Board--you may want to make a call to report this. Were there any witnesses? This is key.
I agree with Linda--there should be 0 tolerance for battery even if this person is a cop.
It sounds to me like you are damned if you do something and damned if you don't.
Taking it outside of the organization might provide you with some support from an objective party,
But please don't think that it is OK to hit somebody. This is wrong.

I have been told that if I went even to HR and did a grievance, I would lose my job and at this age I would lose my home and everything. Going to our labor board is a joke. All my employer has to say is that it is handled internally. I did this before and lost my previous job and would rather be hit than lose everything I have worked for for 40 years. Yes there were witnessses (4) and now they say they have seen nothing and that he is just joking around. I never know when it will happen so I can not carry around an audio player full time every day because of others privacy factors and could lose my job over that. I live in VA a "at will" state where an employer can fire you over the color of your shirt that you wear on Thursday. Thanks for the support.

I would also be putting my resume out in cyber world and checking the newspaper for other jobs. I don't care how old you are, you do not have to take this. Better, I would find me another job, quit and then sue the pants off of them. Report that cop too!

That is outrageous. Keep a written record of times and details of any harassment, verbal and physical. See a dictor, psychologist and other or related and explain how much pain and stress this has caused you to have it officially documented by a professional, if goes to court. In the meantime try and get another job, out of that jurisdiction if possible. Get in touch with a support group for people harassed at work. They may have suggestions too. After youve secured an alternative job and more secure financially you could consider taking legal action and possibly suing and claiming compensation for psychological injury from this man or organisation you work for.

I'm outraged! If this was me, the next time he hit me I'd fall to the floor reel in pain a few times, get up hold my hand over where I was hit maybe even rub my head then say I need to go to the hospital & leave. The ER doctor will ask how & who caused the injury. It will be documented & most likely the police will be called to take a report for battery. The report will have to be handed into HR or a higher authority since it is a cop that hit you. This is how cops are able to arrest other cops especially those they don't know.

After that, I'd be looking for an attorney not afraid of fighting anyone!

I'm not saying you should do this, I'm just saying sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire.

The other is look for a job to transfer to in the same department.

i agree with zazas and quietinsite. it sounds like you are in a no win situation, and need proof of any sort and to get out. a counselor/therapist keeps legal records, good for any possible court case if ever in the future. therapist is better for legality. and please update your resume and try to get out. you say 40 years? if you can, please try to use your work experience to find something. it really sounds like they might be trying to force you out early. it's manipulative and cruel. there are better, legal ways to force out employees other than bullying.
