Bubble tea traces its roots back to Taiwan in the 1980s. It was first created by a tea shop owner who decided to add tapioca balls to his iced tea, giving birth to the unique concoction we now know as bubble tea. The name "bubble tea" is said to have originated from the bubbles formed when the drink is shaken vigorously to mix the ingredients.
