DD is 1 year old tomorrow! I had planned to stop BF at 1 year. I just didn't know it would be exactly one year. We are down to 2 feedings a day and now when she nurses, it kind of feels like it did in the beginning. Uncomfortable and slightly painful. Is this normal? My breasts seem very tender as well.

AND...I need a little support because I"m feeling sad that this time is coming to an end. Kaelin hasn't been noticing when we miss a feeding. She is a great eater and is drinking the remainder of our formula samples and cow's milk. Tell me I'll feel happier soon! I think it will be great to have a little more "freedom" from the pump!

I've survived weaning 2 babies, and I'm already dreading weaning my current baby! My first son weaned himself, and I weaned my second son. It was hard both ways. I'm feeling your pain! My sadness went away as I entered new wonderful times with my boys. I enjoyed my freedom as well. Not sure about the breast tenderness...I don't recall experiencing that.

Once I gave Keegan a bottle he wasn't too interested in Bfeeding, too independant of a little guy. I did it so gradually (and so long ago) I dont remember the tenderness. I do remember the sad feeling, especially when I saw someone else bfeeding =(.. This will pass soon. I know you will feel better about it soon, I still have many months to go before I get to experience freedom from the pump.. Awe just the thought of that alone gets me excited. I think that you are very lucky to have a child who isnt missing the feedings. I had a friend who tried weaning at 18 months and it was a nightmare, her guy was not happy with loosing the nighttime feedings at all. The next couple years are so great, I agree with CHerbear you will enjoy every moment (aside from the tantrums) that it will be ok. Just remember foundly the bond you formed and all the good you did for her. Good luck

AWWWWW.....My hubby wants me to wean our little guy, but he's only 7 months so I don't want to yet. My first guy is 4 less than a month ago and he nursed till he was 13 months. He didn't even mind the end. He liked the freedom. I was WAYYY sad. then my girl weaned at 12 months. Like 2 1/2 weeks after her birthday, but I had to because I found out I was pregnant 3 days before her birthday. Now I think I'm more nervous about weaning because I might get pregnant right away. Plus the thought makes me SAD:(

NOT sad about getting pregnant again, I want like 6 more kids. But I don't want to get pregnant till I can lose 30 lbs. ......just had to clearify.

You'll be amazed how good you'll feel that you stuck with it and nursed her for a year. What a great gift to give your child.
