It will depend on what type of breast cancer you have, whether you need chemo or not. They are making incredible strides in treating breast cancer that I'm afraid you will have to wait until you see your doctor as to the best treatment plan.
No treatment plan "requires" any particular treatment. Remember that your body belongs to YOU and you can say NO. It's helpful to have someone come with you and write down the things the doctor is saying so that you can go back later and research everything. Ask as many questions as you want. Ask until you understand and/or feel comfortable. Then you can make the best choices for you.
Good luck!

You are not alone.
