That was a STUPID thing for the radiologist to say. When I had my mammo 2 1/2 years ago, there were 3 teeny tiny spots that I couldn't even FEEL -- they came back abnormal -- So I had to have them biopsied. It came back cancerous -- So i had to have a lumpectomy and 6 weeks of radiation!!! Remember - I couldn't even FEEL them. And this radiologist said it was a WASTE OF TIME??? How stupid.

You need to get in there and get a mammogram!! I hope you don't get the same radiologist. Sheeesh. He shouldn't even be doing these!! He's got the wrong attitude.

anything felt or shown as being suspicious need to be reviewed... My mammogram was 12/30/10 it was normal but ultrasound showed an area of concern in the nipple.. next week I am having MRI done....

DO NOT delay in getting it checked out.... and tell your dr what they said to you a year ago.. that technician should NOT be working there!

Anytime you feel a suspicious lump in your breast you should insist on answers from your physician. Get another opinion, preferably with a breast specialist, if you aren't satisfied with the first. The fact that you still have a lump after your last mammogram and it is bigger suggests further followup. Ask about a needle biopsy. You said that you had bb size lumps you were concerned about. Do you still have them? My lump was less than bb sized and did not show up on a mammogram or ultrasound. The breast surgeon I was referred to told me it was not anything to worry about and to come back in 6 months unless there was a change. I went back in 6 months even though it had not changed. It still didn't show up on a mammogram. He told me I could continue having it followed in another 6 months, or if I wanted he would remove it. I elected to have it removed and it was invasive breast cancer with microscopic cancer in one lymph node. My breast surgeon was shocked as he never expected it to be cancer or be in a lymph node. I underwent chemotherapy and radiation. That was in 2004. If I had elected to wait another 6 months, I'm not sure if I would be here today. I don't want to scare you and odds are in your favor that what you are feeling is benign, but I urge you to pursue this until you are satisfied. You have one life, protect it. The radiologist should be reported to the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. You should be able to file a complaint on the website. Best of luck to you.

Good luck at the doctor's. I agree with Leeall. It was a stupid thing for the radiologist to say. When I was diagnosed with Breast cancer, mine WAS Small. About the size of a small grape! My Cousin on the other hand had a lump she ignored for a year, and now has stage 4 that has spread to her lungs. They should never tell you that you should ignore it! I hope things work out in your favor.

That guy doesn't need his job.If that's the way he feels about it. It makes me wonder if mine could have been there sooner but the tech. didn't care. I know my Dr had to send me to another hospital for a mammo and ultra sound because the first place didn't follow his orders.I have family history of breast cancer so I got checked ever 6mos. The first place said I was clear bilt. and the second place found lumps in bilt. I was sent to a breast surgeon. needle biopsies and one side was cancer the other side wasn't. Get a second opinion. I hope it's just a cyst but best to check it out.

Mammo scheduled for Monday the 17th. My Dr could feel a second one that I didn't. So we shall see. Thanks for the support. :)

Thank you all for your support. I couldn't find my way back to this discussion until I got an update in my email today. I am very thankful that it is just a cyst. They think it might actually be 2 of them on top of each other.

are they doing a ultrasound? MRI? biopsy?

They did an ultrasound. Said if it got to be an inch in size they would asparate it.

Are you ok with waiting? You can tell your dr that you rather have biopsy now.. if nothing then great...but you don't have to 'wait'...

I complained to my doctor that my breasts were a little painful and thickening on the sides. I had a mammo and nothing. She told me it's just a hormone buildup. The following year (Jan 09) I was seen by another doctor and he looked at my chart and suggested I get another mammo immediately. I told him I will do it in April but he urged me to do it. Sure enough it was breast cancer (DCIS) stage 0. Caught on time but I opted for a double. Not to scare but don't take a chance. The sooner the better and try to get a 2nd opinion.
