Hi sherizi. My advice is to be safe and get it checked out. My breast cancer started out as a small lump in left breast, I let it go because there is no history of breast cancer in family and I couldnt feel it all the time. By the time I realized something was wrong my tumor was growing rapidly and I was a stage 3c. Your bump is most likely nothing but for your peace of mind get it checked. I also did not have a history of any kind of cancer, like Carol, I did not have any lump ever;only a sharp pain from time to time,I insisted to get a biopsy; one needs to see a doctor for any changes or if you feel your body is telling you something, this was my case . Except for my family doctor everybody thought I was imagining all.
See a doctor. Might be nothing to worry.

thank you carol124, and deraming, I appreciate the encouragement. I have called the breast center where I live, and they won't let me come in until I have gone to my reg. dr. and got "doctors orders". That means more dr. appt.'s. More cost.

Unfortunately, I am not sure I can afford all of the necessary visits, or tests if they do a need a bunch of things done. I have called and asked some of the pricing, (mam. and diagnostic prices). Way out of my range. But, if my dr. thinks I need the tests, then, of course I will see what I can do.

My husband is going thru recovery of his colon cancer/chemo, and I have ms...so, our bills are pretty out there right now. But, the 'bump' does have me concerned a bit now!
I will see tho, if I can get in to the reg. dr. and see what he says, I guess. Thank you ladies! I appreciate the imput.

just another thought, I thought I might add here.

Both of my parents died of cancers. My mother had Ovarian, my father had Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma. So, I am no stranger to the 'cancer world', and as I mentioned, my husband is currently up against the colon cancer battle.

So, i guess, my concern about the "bump" that I have found, makes me wonder if I had better get it checked out.

Don't know if age has anything to do with things like breast cancer...but, I am just over 50 years old.
I just don't want to go in to a doctor, and act like I am just paranoid! That is why I first thought I'd check here, and see what someone here might think! Thank you all, for letting me ask questions here!

Do you have a Komen Center near you. The Susan Komen Center helped me with all my mammograms and tests. Give them a call, they were very nice and extremely helpful financially.

Are you in the US? If you are in Houston call The Rose it is a non profit clinic that is excellent.
Or go to the ER in a large hospital and tell them you need to be examen, that you have family history,make sure you tell there is pain,if not they might not see asap.
They will refer you to a cancer center,or diagnostic one,the cost will be less, also if in the US there are the community clinics,or a County Hospital, there are programs.
Also call American Cancer Sociaty for help.

I live in Wa. state. I don't know about the Komen center. I will look online. Thank you ladies.
The one local breast center I called, said I first had to have doctors orders to go in there. So, I guess I first have to pay to go to a regular doctor, and then, if he thinks it is necessary, "then" I would get to go to the other center.

just wanted to let you ladies (those who have been helping me here!) that I have an appt. to be seen by a reg. physician tomorrow morning! Wish me luck!

well, the plan is to get in to see the dr. in the morning, but, that may be a bit difficult as it is snowing hard outside right now! My driveway is covered, and it is getting thick out on those roads!
My goodness! I thought this was Spring? hmm...well, I am going to do my best to make it in to the doctors office! I will update after I go in!

Well, the dr. appt. went well. They said they wanted to get me in for an xray and a Mammogram, and that they'd call to get me an appt. within three days...then, on my drive home, they called and said they want me to go in tomorrow morning! Wow! That was fast. So, tomorrow I go in for the "squishing" part of this journey.
May not be "anything to worry about"...but, I will likely know within a day or two!

thank you Carol124, I thought one thing the doctor said was interesting. She asked me if I had ever had a surgery done on the other breast. I have not. She said it felt like there was a scar tissue or something in it? hmm...
She did say that she felt the "bump" thing that I had told her I felt on the breast that I had asked her to check.
So, at least I was happy to know it was not just my imagination!
I will let you know that the exam/mam tells me tomorrow, or as soon as they tell me.
