Stephie, I'm not sure how I can help. Did your path report contain any surprise or was it pretty much what the doctor expected? My doctor used the path report to make the final decision about what treatment is needed. Have you talked to your oncologist yet?

I understand where you are now and how scary it is.

Last May I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. Your oncologist should go over the type of cancer and the treatments for it. Mine was triple negative, which means no tumor receptors for the three most common treatments. I went out and researched everything on the internet that profiled me as likely a woman over 40, of a particular ethnicity, who either never had children or had children after 30.

I am over 40, but the rest is all false. What I'm getting at is that you can scare yourself silly looking up all the what ifs and why did this happen to me and hwhat yo find may not pertain to you. It helped me when my oncologist finally said that the only certain cause of my breast cancer was that I had breasts. It's not a fault or something you did. If genetic testing is warranted (mine was) you will find out if you have a mutated BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 gene. If so, you are at higher risk of breast cancer. Of course, in our case, the risk is 100%, because we got it.

I had no gene mutations and not a particularly strong family history (one paernal cousin). I found it best to just question the heck out of my oncologist until I understood exactly what I had and how we were going to treat it. I was fortunate and had no lymph involvement. They got the whole thing with the single mastectomy with clear margins. After three rounds of chemo, I am apparently cancer free and trying to make some diet adjustments to help me stay that way.

Now that you are diagnosed, you are going to learn waaaaay more about breast cancer than you probably ever wanted to know. Set your mind that you are in this for the long haul and use all the resources at your disposal (oncologist, nurses, surgeons, etc.) and surround yourself with family and friends who love you. Lean on them as you would want them to lean on you if they were in crisis.

You can get through this. Hang in there and be positive. Be well.

i have the first pathology report from where i got the lumpectomy. but do not have the one from the lymph node biopsy because i have not had the lymp node biopsy yet, they are scheduling that now.here is some from the pre-operative diagnosis. report. right breast mass.submitted is one formalin container designated stephie and labled right breast mass.long stitch anterior,short stitch medial.with in is a 57 GM piece fat marked with stitches as indicated.it mesaures 8.0 x 7.5 x 4.5 CM maximal dimensions. red dye is placed on the anterior margin, green dye is placed at the medial margin and black ink is placed on the remainer of the specimen. the specimen is bi sected,separating it into the medial and lateral halves. there is a tumor identified in the medial half of the of the specimen,tan to grey and gritty,measuring 1.4 X 1.4 cm maximal dimensions.it appears to be centrally confined and totally excised with gross margins of at least 1.0 CM radially. in the opposite, lateral half is a small area of white fibrous appearing tissue measuring up to 6.0 MM in diameter,extending to the lateral inked margin.sections will be submitted after appropriate formali fixation.

breast right,excisional biopsy with evaluation of margins.

Breast Neoplasms with these Chromosomal Aberrations Frequently have a Polysomy-Corrected Amplification Score of Less Than 2.00 Reportable as not Overamplified. However it is Important to Point Out That Increased Absolute Her-2/NEU Gene Copy Number Is Strongly Correlated With Cell Membrane Her-2/NEU Gene Overexpression.
If Her-2/NEU Gene Product Expression Status Is Deemed Clinically Relevant In Treatment Decisions, It Should Be Noted That Although This Sample Is Not Overamplified.
It Does Exhibit Her-2/NEU Protien Overexpression.

Hi, My mother has a invasive duct carcinoma in her right breast.It was like mass leison measuring 2.4*2*2.3cm with irregular lobulated echographic margins.Now, doctors done the mastectomy of right breast.I got tthe pathology report . please i need your suggestions .Thanks!
