Hello, I too am a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed i year ago in March. I am expecting my second mammogram and ultrasound on June 22nd. Welcome to the group.

Hi, and welcome! I had a radical mastectomy in 1995, and am still in remission. I did develop lymphedema in my right arm. However, at that time, they removed all the lymph nodes that they could find. They don't do that any more, so the risk of lymphedema is much less these days. I hope all goes well for both of you when you have your mammo. Even after all this time, I still get nervous when I have a mammo or a visit to the oncologist for a check-up. Congratulations for your survivor status, and God Bless! Kathy

I too am a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in November 2009, had my surgery in Dec 2009, went through radiation and finished in April 2010. I had my 2nd mammo and had another lumpectomy in October 2010 - but it was revealed benign (thank god!). I go for my 3rd mammo on June 17 (Respectful, I was suppose to go on the 22nd but I will be in Denver CO for a week and a half). Yes, I am nervous but I have been trying to eat and exercise so hopefully god will be on my side and have clear margins. I am also on Tamoxifen (4 more years). That tiny little pill has put me through menupause (haven't had a period since Jan).

i finished radiation september of 2009 i had 3 lumpectomies and only one came back cancer... i was taking tomoxifin until i had the rest of my hystroectomy and then they switched me to arimidex which i have to take for 3 1/2 more years. i also get nervous when its time for my check ups.. i just had one 5 wks ago and it came back great.. i get my mammo and ultrasound on the 3rd of june.... you know how we are suppose to check our selfs often.. i cant do that because im so paranoid i feel things that are not there so i go get checked every 3 months...and i get blood and tests done every 4 to 6 months. so my point is i think no matter how long the remission is the idea of it coming back is terrorafing/ . do you guys feel the same way

Hi, I was diagnosed in 2009, had a lumpectomy and was cleared.
However in Oct 2010, they found two lumps and one on the lymph nodes. I decided to go holistic with lifestyle changes, high quality supplements, homeopathic medications for detoxing and Intravenous Vit C. Went for cancer markers and scan 7 weeks later and markers were low. Did the same for another 7 weeks and it is still good. I am anxious as the lumps are still there but I am trusting God. I feel well and have lots of energy. I am glad to be able to share this with other women going through BC.

Hi, I was diagnosed July 0f 2010, had the surgery and am so far good The funny thing is I will not say Im cancer free until after the 5 years, now I say Im a survivor but in remission. My doc doesnt like to use that word lol... but Congrats to you :)

Welcome to the group. I don't use the word survivor too much. I don't want to jinx myself. I was diagnosised in Nov. 08. I just went through a round of tests and everything was clear. Looking forward to getting to know you.
