I will have the radiation seed implanted into the mass the day prior to surgery. I have had sharp pains in my breast ever since the core biopsy. Just wondering if that will cause those pains to keep occuring. The pain is not constant but it occurs several times a day and it will take your breath away. I have had alot of surgeries and this is almost as bad as when my gall bladder ruptured. Its like getting stabbed with a knife several times in a row. I am hoping once the mass is out it will stop.
From what I read on the internet it's a new technique that is improving the pre-surgery experience for us breast cancer patients.
It sounds a lot less painful than the guided wire localization I endured an hour before my lumpectomy. Imagine knowing a wire is being implanted into your mass so your surgeon can identify it. They do numb the area but mentally it was very scary at least for me. Afterward they place a styrafoam cup over the wire with tape to "keep the wire from moving". They also do a mammogram with it in place, not as much squeezing tho. You wear a blanket over your towel as they take you back for your surgery...all the while this wire is sticking out of you... yikes !
Sorry to be so graphic but the seed implant sounds 100 % better to me ! Wish I had had the option.

The one you explained sounds scary. I know I did not like the cone biopsy. The last two specimens he took hurt and I still get stabbing pains in my breast. Feels like someone has a knife inside your breast and intermitently stabs you thre to six times. My RO said Friday the dr doing the procedure must have nicked a nerve. He said it may go away in time, but then it may stay. He made note of it so the surgeon can perhaps look for the nerve during surgery Friday morning. Then again I have had surgery before where they thought they had me under but until they noticed the fear in my eyes and the abrupt rise of my BP I was feeling every cut of he scalple. My surgeon said he will make sure I am out before he cuts this time. He also told me to remind the anistheologist. He said he had heard of it before but never had a patient that had had it. Your movements and vocal are paralized so its the eyes and sudden rise in BP that let them know eventually. OMG did that hurt. They talk about forgrtting labor pains but this is an experience you never forget.
OMG it hurt and still hurts. I can't even keep a bra on. They better not be using Lidocaine for the surgery I will walk out if they do. Cancer has to be better than being stabbed to death with large needles.
Then he told me not to get around animals or small children until after I have the surgery and the seed is removed.
