my family has a history of breast cancer. my situ had breast cancer twice, my aunt beth had it, my mom almost did, my cousin has it, my aunt kathy has it. i am 16 and am getting my first mammogram at age 18 because of there being such a high risk of me getting it. there is over 50% chance i will get it and i am really freeking out. also, ive seen so many people go through cancer that, as selfish as it sounds, i pray i dont get it every single night.

Family history is only part of this. It sounds like you will be proactive and keep checking. I had no family history, and I got it, so don't be consumed by this. If it happens, you deal with it but don't spend your life fearing it or it will take over. I wish you well.

thank you. yah i worry a lot, but i dont live in fear. i am going to be in the fbi's NCAVC unit.

I agree with Hotmom .
The mayority that get breast cancer do not have a family history, I do not have any cancer in my face, and I had breast and skin.
You just make sure to examen your breast once a month after your period, and have a yearly visit to your family doctor, also your family members that had breast cancer probably had a BRCI gene test.
Lots of people die in car accidents, but that dosent stop people driving, they are just cautious.
Also maybe you need to talk to a counselor at school.just to have somebody listen in person.
