Breast Cancer Support Group
Breast cancer is a cancer that usually originates in the ducts or lobules of the breast. Symptoms of breast cancer can include a lump in the breast, a change in size or shape of the breast or discharge from a nipple. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with breast cancer, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, and meet others going through...
I just finished my annual CT, mammogram and bone scan yesterday. A few days ago, I fell and hit my breasts in the bathtub. I was debating whether or not to mention it at the mammogram but grateful I did since the technician was concerned and called my oncologist. It worked out but I never thought it was significant.
Please wish me luck for good results.
Hugs to all. Koyu
All in Internet, books, groups should be taken with a grain of salt.
The most informed place is as I have written before is National Cancer Institute.
Also they send free information . Lists of clinical trials.
I had my 6 months follow mammogram, and sonogram, even that I was given a clear diagnosis, my radiologist that remove my lump last December, she wants my doctor to further exams, because of having had breast cancer before that was not diagnosed with a mammogram.
I am having a brain MRI, and a spine MRI, next January , I have them yearly.
I still thankful for all this years in remission.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Beware of trolls.
She has so much experience & knowledge about this disease and the "so called" miracle cures.
Bottom line.....stick with the The National Cancer Institute like deraming posted........most of the rest are fake !
Hugs, Phoebe
I watched 7 of the 9 videos on The Truth About Cancer & there was
a LOT of good information. Ty Bollinger is a Christian man who was grief stricken when he lost both parents to cancer & also many dear loved ones.
Personally, Diptheria & Polio were dreaded diseases that were cured,
and it is such a tragedy that so many have suffered & been fearful.
It has been 45 years since Nixon declared war on cancer.
Far too long. I live in Hawaii, and a surgeon who removed my girlfriend's husband's cancer advised him NOT to get Chemo. He said the oncologists get a kick back every time someone gets chemo.
The surgeon also said that an oncologist had an 85 year old woman
go on chemo, & she couldn't handle it & the doctor got a kickback by the fact that she indeed took chemo.
I have NEVER heard of a current practicing surgeon say this - something to think about!
I think everyone should watch this series, & take the good tips & know that there is a way nutritionally to make your body not be conducive to a reoccurrence of cancer.
Sugar is the WORST thing for cancer. When a Pet Scan is given to
someone , pure glucose (sugar) is injected into your veins - & the injected glucose will go straight to the tumor site & will light up the tumor.
We need to take the best care of ourselves
Breast Cancer? But Doctor...I hate pink!

I saw this obit in my local paper. I am taking all identifying information out. I wish her family and friends well; this is not meant to be mean-spirited.
"XX, Mother of four died surrounded by family. Her openness to discover natural treatments allowed her to survive much longer than expected after her diagnosis of aggressive stage three breast cancer in August, 2010"
Reading that, it sounds like she refused treatment and died of a potentially curable disease. You don't die of stage III breast cancer. At some point, it progressed to Stage 4.
It goes on to talk about how she encouraged her family to live an all-organic, natural lifestyle. I see so many people online caught up in these stories - baking soda and molasses, organic foods, crazy stuff, it's surprising to see it in an obituary. To this day I have people tell me how to cure my cancer with some weird thing. The organic food one is particularly confusing to me as they found breast cancer in Egyptian mummies, and they found cancer in dinosaur bones - their diet was as organic as it gets.
I'm truly sorry we lost another woman to this disease - and that obit only tells a tiny piece of the story. But if she didn't treat stage III with anything but diet, this was inevitable. And living 5 years with no treatment is not long. I know many woman diagnosed Stage 3 same year as me and a few are good friends. None of them have had relapses, and they are six years past now and raising kids and living a normal life. All did chemo.
None of these alternative therapies are based in reality. If you want to give yourself the best chance at survival, used evidence-based medicine first. That may not work as I well know, but it is better than nothing, which is what eating organic is.

Polio and Diphtheria were stopped because a vaccine was found.
As a breast cancer patient spending every day going to treatment, laying on a table and worrying about my future I feel compelled to spread what is true about the fight against Breast Cancer.
Not about Diptheria, Polio or Nixon (Wahl) !
english....your girlfriends husbands cancer is not the same here. Unless YOU have breast cancer (and not a friend you know ) you will never undestand what we are living thru !
~Phoebe
I think you may have misinterpreted my reply.
I am NOT against The American Cancer Society.
I am a person who recently was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I too endured traditional treatment & know and live with the fear that
breast cancer can evoke.
I am not trying to create an "either OR situation between
alternative or traditional.
I took traditional treatment & also laid on the table every day.
As someone who has had breast cancer, I try to eat well and exercise
& take care of myself to have my body heal.
It is a shame that the woman in the obituary elected only to have
alternative therapy.
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer, I read all I can
about being healthier and staying alive for a very long time for myself and loved ones, which is what I think that most breast cancer survivors also want.
That being said, I recently had a PET scan done, - to detect tumors, &
to test for tumors, the medical personnel injected glucose into my vein.
If there is indeed a tumor, the glucose (sugar) goes straight to the tumor. That is how my mass was discovered. The medical personnel
informed me that glucose goes straight to a tumor, and reiterated that
sugar is the worst thing you can eat for a tumor.
I say this to help inform anyone who could benefit from my experience.
I also shared about a surgeon that told my friend's husband, that he would not recommend chemo , and mentioned that the doctor's get kickbacks. I did not intend for this to be a war, but just to pass on information of a true story. I was just as surprised at this pronouncement as I'm sure many people are.
There is some scientific medical evidence based information in the nutritional field. I too look for scientific based information.
I would like to listen to my oncologists, but also do the best I can to
raise my chances of survival, by eating well, & exercising.
I was taken aback & a bit insulted when you referred to diphtheria & polio & cancer, (when President Nixon declared war on cancer 45 years ago. I was insulted when you said (wah). Correct me if I'm wrong please, if you didn't intend to insult me.
Humanity has suffered tremendously throughout history with diphtheria
& polio, and luckily there have been cures for both of these diseases.
I have been traumatized by all of the suffering & loss and grief & fear
that cancer has caused, and I am sure everyone reading this can relate from a place of going through breast cancer, or any cancer, & having yourself go through the terror of a possible death sentence ,
and/or grieving for loved ones, or even remembering the gruesome tales
of cancer's stories imbedded in our memories.
I think to say (wah) is trivializing cancer.
I pray to God that a cure be found soon & that you will be blessed & spared, & myself & everyone on this site, so we never have to fear cancer in our lifetime again.
Blessings
Also you specifically addressed my comment on 11/27/15 and insulted me first with condescending comments about my post.
Last I did not write wah.......I wrote :Not about Diptheria, Polio or Nixon (Wahl) !
Yes capitol W.... Wahl....because I think you are a troll I know here at DS .His/her user name is Wahl !!!
You need to be more accurate with your slander dear. :-)

You are absolutely right! I never formally introduced myself on the breast cancer site & I just made a comment without anyone getting to know me. I apologize for my behavior of jumping in without introducing myself.
I have been a member of Daily Strength for nearly 3 years.
I first found this site when my husband was diagnosed with Myesthenia Graves - a rare autoimmune disease which left his face drooping on one side and he could not swallow & it effected his vision
and it was a life threatening condition. I found this site & began asking member for any advise I could find. It was a horrifying experience, &
I am glad he is somewhat stable now with medications.
I also expanded my group to include "organ transplant" group, as I am a kidney transplant recipient (I just made 14 years.
At the end of this May, I added the breast cancer group because I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of May. I had two breast cancer surgeries, to make sure all the margins were clear.
I was a rare case - I had 0 Estrogen, 2Progesterone & 0 Her2.
The oncologist thought that the labs may have made an error, and that I was triple negative. They did another test after the next surgery & my progesterone came back as 5, with zero estrogen & 0 Her2.
They would have liked to have given me chemo & radiation, but felt the
chemo would do more harm then good, as I already take medication to lower my immune system so my kidney won't reject. They never conclude whether the cancer was triple negative, but they implied it was because they said it would be a rare person to have that low of progesterone & not be triple negative.
I went through 5.5 weeks of radiation. I am in my 60's & have had medical issues due to my transplant so it took me about 3 months to get over the effects of radiation, even though it doesn't bother others as much. Tomorrow will be 6 months exactly since I had my last surgery. I saw my oncologist last week & he wants me to get a mammo in 6 months. I hope this is ok since my radiologist oncologist
thought I should be getting a mammo at 6 months. I am not taking any
Tamoxifen or the other drug because I do not have much hormone receptors.
I am glad you were able to clear that up about the Wahl & that it was I who had misinterpreted it. I had never come accross the term Wahl before. I sincerely meant it when I said that I pray there is a cure for cancer & none of us on this site have to live in fear or suffering like so many have before us. I hope for a time in history, when we all be able to look back in time, & be thankful that a cure for cancer was found.
I had no idea what a "troll" was because I was new to this site & never come across it & those two small posts were the only thing I have ever written. I did some research on this site, & realized that a "troll" was someone trying to fake an illness.
More than ever, I wish this would have been the case, but unfortunately I indeed have breast cancer, & my life has never been the same. I have friends and co-workers who have had cancer, and
I never really understood what they went through until I went through it myself. Each and everyone on this site is beyond courageous (you included).
Right now , I am trying to get stronger and hold on to my job & eat as healthy as possible. I found a site of a odd, of the cancer diet that they reciommend at UCSF. (University of California at San Fransisco (where I had my transplant.
I have lived in Hawaii for 54 years and I have only told a few close friends & family who pray for me. I have told no one at work, as I am a private person.
I know first hand the fears of the future you speak of because I have those same fears too. I wish you well, Englishbutterfly
I have been a member of DS for 4 1/2 years. I joined when my husband suffered a massive brain stem stroke. I am his 24/7 caregiver now as he is completely paralyzed on his right side and suffered brain damage. Life as I knew it changed forever. After 42 years of marriage I now had to do EVERYTHING for our home plus run my husband to all his doctor appointments , manage his meds. and take care of two 14 yr old dogs, one deaf and one going blind.
The last thing I needed was to be diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. At first I was told I was triple positive, including Her2, but later my tumor revealed I was not.
I now am undergoing 4 weeks of excelerated radiation so I can finish in less time. Needless to say when I get back from driving myself to my treatments my husband and his needs are waiting for me. Most nights I fall into bed exhausted.
I live with the fear that if anything happens to me my husband will most likely be put in a home.
We all have our burdens in life.
Good luck and I wish you well.

I work on the #1 Cancer Center in the world, chosen yearly and we see people that fall for fad diets, magic cures, etc and after spending thousands and running out of time they arrive too late, when a treatment could give them remission or extend life.
We can not know I'm sites who had or not cancer,I was in a group were one lady was discovered to be a fake, wanted attention.
Is better only to listen to qualified professionals, and not 2 patients of the same cancer are clones of each other.
Beware.
Thank you for your kind response. It is especially hard when both of us are couples & both have illnesses. It's weird - there are so many people with exelent health, & sometimes I feel like my own little sub-culture who live in the land of "not quite well" . People who have no health problems are so lucky.
I am sorry you have to drive to radiation appointments all by yourself
My husband was able to drive me to all my appointments.
With both of us having health issues, I guess we do the best we can.
I sailed through my surgeries, & seemed to sal through the beginning part of radiation. I had some days where I was ok & some times, I was wiped out. They explained it to me that it will feel like you have just spent in the hot sun, & you are wasted. They told be the radiology sometimes continue to process 10 days after the treatment. I was worried at first that I didn't feel like my sassy self like I did after the surgery, but my girlfriend told me that you gain your strength back slowly. It was like that for me anyway.
I was lucky, my skin did not break down where it was burnt & oozy there is a special sulphur burn cream that you can put on if your skin starts to break down. My girlfriend went through that.
I guessI won't need too much support, because I have already gone through the hardest part - the biopsy, 2 surgeries, & the radiation. So I guess there is not much I need help with at the memo to - just getting healthier & stronger. I hope there is no reason that I have to post &!ask for helps& support &!thd future. I get my first 3D mammogram in May - one year after my surgeries.
I wish you &!your husband well - I admire you for all the strength you have in taking care of him for 24/17 & also driving every day.
If you ever need to get a hold of me - my e-mail is "Englishbutterfly@mac.com

I only posted the natural information for you to take what you thought was helpful and leave the rest. I firmly believe some natural remedies do aid along with traditional protocol. Like staying away from processed foods that are loaded with sugar and other chemicals that are toxic. Drinking plenty of pure water and some additional aspects about what we put into our bodies.
In the 1950s one in twenty people got cancer. Today it's one in three! This illness is rampant due to the increase in toxins in our environment, food, water and chemicals we intake, that weren't around in the 1950s. I believe it's also our lifestyle of overwhelming stress and everything moving so fast.
I am very nervous about having breast cancer. I am alone and don't get out much. I see my surgeon this week and will have follow up mammo. Ever since the 33 radiation treatments I am exhausted. The oncologist insist it's not the radiation but the underlying CFS I deal with. Well Duh.... I read all the information I received from National Cancer and ACS and it has stated clearly that radiation's side effects are weakness and tiredness and it may take some people over a year to recover. The oncology nurse advised me of the same. Yes CFS is part of it but I feel SMACKED down. I am whining here and don't mean to.
I just wanted to remind you the information posted on natural protocols was for just that. - Ifoation that may help add to recovering.
I am so tired, that I don't have the ability to get on here as often as I would like. I wish you all LOVE & HEALING
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays
May our New Year be Brighter and full of better health.
I'm in my second week of radiation and I am pooped. I thought at first it was because I drive myself every day to my treatments plus care for my husband but after getting extra sleep over the weekend I'm still dragging. The nurse told me today it's definitely a side effect of the radiation.
Good luck and Best Wishes to you :-)
Englishbutterfly,
A hui hou / Aloha !! :-)
