I just had my 6 month mammo at my cancer hospital. I finished radiation back in april so it was time to get a mammo. I went in and they found a deep lump on my left breast now. They don't know what it is but will be biopsying it next week. They said it wasn't large and weren't really concerned over it. I am! after all I went through with the DCIS breast cancer. They are saying this is a different primary and it looks like a mass on my lymph nodes and its really tiny. I am really scared and nervous over this. The last biopsy on the right breast last year was the real thing. Now they want another one on the other breast. I am on tamoxifen, I would have thought this would have prevented the cancer from reoccuring. They told me that this happens occasionally and rarely. I was expecting my 6 month mammo to be a "clean bill of health". I will be getting an ultrasound biopsy on 11/6.

I'm sorry tikasiamese!

Biopsies are the scariest thing! Please keep us posted. At least it's tiny and may not even be cancer. That doesn't help the worry I know.

The thought of this happening on my other breast kinda scares me. The left side is where the heart is so its extremely important that it is negative. The thought of going through another lumpectomy and 6 weeks of radiation does not sit well with me. Please say a prayer for me on Wed everyone!!

Tomorrow is the big day - didn't have a calandar when I wrote the posting, sorry about that. wish me luck and say some prayers that this is negative.

Good Grief! I am SO Sorry to hear that. I am coming up on my 6 months, too! In December, and I'm scared too! I am on the horrible Tamoxifen, and you are right, you almost expect it to protect you, but you just never know!~ I hope to GOD Your biopsy comes back without anything wrong! thank you respectful. So happy to hear from you. I remember your story because we both were going through the radiation last time together. they did the biopsy this morning. at first, the radiologist couldn't find it on the ultrasound (it is really small) so the other radiologist who did me last week wound up doing the biopsy. They numbed me up alright, took 2 samples, put the clip in, did a few mammo pics and I am out the door. the novacaine is wearing off right now as we speak so I have a cold pack. I am more tired right now because I hardly had a wink of sleep last night. I will know my results on Friday after 4. I have to go for a fish fry and meet my family at 6:30. If she calls between 4-5:30pm, i will post something on here. Cross your fingers, light some candles and say a million prayers that its nothing. Now its a waiting game.

Still think tamoxifen is suppose to prevent the cancer from coming back. I guess you never know.

sorry it took so long to get back. the biopsy results say that I have a cyst but its benign, kinda good. BUT....I have to see my breast cancer surgeon tomorrow and take more mammo pics. The radiologist mentioned about cutting it out. Almost like a lumpectomy on my left breast but without the radiation. keep you all posted tomorrow night or thursday morning with the news from the surgeon.

I am happy your tumor was benign after all you have been through. I hope whatever they end up doing about the tumor goes well for you and I will have you in my prayers.

Guess what. I have to go for another lumpectomy. They want to cut it out and send it to pathology. Not out of the woods yet. Going 2 weeks from today - 11/30. Just because the biopsy report says benign ,doesn't necessarily mean it really is. Please pray. 15 more days.....
