well after my papilloma was removed they found pre cancer cells , 2 more opps including milk ducts and nipple and still not full clear margin, so after disscushion with surgeon he says a mastectomy is the best way , my family are distraught, to me it hasnt come has a shock , he still says its pre cancer but its bigger earea than thought , i am having mastectomy with reconstruction , no radiotharpy needed , and nurse says because its pre cancer no lymph nodes involved, to b honest i am pleased they are taking it away , so i can get on with my life , my husband has taken it badly for my sake cos i have had 3 lumpectomys in 6weeks , i am positive i will b strong and look forward to wearing a nice bra again, he is giving me a month to get myself strong after other opps , so i am going to party girls

So sorry it has come down to this but I am glad you are being well looked after. I had DCIS and after no clear margins from lumpectomy, I had the mastectomy with reconstruction as well. Are you having the implant? I am very happy with my result and now 2.5 years later, the scars are fading and I often forget that one of these breasts isn't real. In my clothes, noone can tell. I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery and then you can put all of this behind you.

hi hotmom yes implants was mentioned , only thing i worry about is i am no sprin chicken i am 63 in march, but if i dont ave reconsruction i will i feel a woman again, i know a couple of friends who hopped out reconstruction and are quite happy ,

A papilloma is a benign tumor, when they are benign surgery is usually the only option.
This is also true with non melanoma skin cancers, they have to cut till all margins are clear, this ones and benign do not spread but can grow in situ,
I had in january surgery on my face for basal cell carcinoma, and this is the case.
You did the right thing, best to you.
