Why does my X have to keep trying to control me? Trying to make me feel guilty and sorry for him?
Just when I think I'm going to have a nice holiday, he throws in he's gotten something really nice for me for Christmas, I didn't get him anything. Last year we didn't get each other anything, why start once we're divorced? He went on to tell me he is volunteering to go back to Iraq... of course I start crying (not to him). It's just so scary to me. What am I supposed to do? Why is he telling me all this? What am I supposed to do with this information?

I'm not sure what to advise you about this, but will send a healing hug of support your way.
As for the emotional response to his comment....its normal. You would be feeling the same way about anyone you know in that position. War is ugly and no one wants to see someone they know face it.
