I am the mom of a 15 yr old girl. She is upset with the way my husband (her dad) speaks to me, she says he's rude, disrespectful and mean. She told me she does not thinks we even love each other. He has a short fuse for sure. He drinks too much which she hates, as do I. It's been a wave of ups and downs for the past 10 years, we've been married for 17. He is 61 and she thinks he was too old to have a child. I am 54. I have a responsibility to show my daughter the way to be treated by a man, so far I am failing. If we don't sort this out, she is going to have one failed relationship after another. She has repeatedly said she hates him and that he is not a good person. Should I divorce him to show her I need to take a stand?
I think your daughter is frustrated by his ways and by your tolerance of that behaviors And I am sure she has also suffered from this marriage.
I d say, both you and your daughter should go to counseling together and build a good relationship. At the same time, you probably should consider getting help for you to help you get strong and leave the marriage.
If you leave the marriage prematurely, you may not handle it well on your own and have all sorts of problems.
It is best to leave when you are 100 % ready and have a plan.
Just like you shouldn't leave your spouse for your child, you shouldn't stay with your spouse for your child. We have to make that change because it is the right thing for everyone involved.

vows obligate each of to keep it on the rails and to speak up when there is discord
ideally you model that the vows are bigger than "you"
giving a child a stable family is bigger than anything
things can get sideways and they can get put back on track
