Tulip, I know this looks scary but just think you are approaching the end. It doesn't matter how aggressive his lawyer is, the law is the law, don't let him intimidate you! Judges are smart people who can smell lies. You will be fine. You will come out of this stronger.
I just read a book called "Divorcing a narcissist", written by a mom who represented herself in court, I strongly recommend you read it.
Of course I will pray for you. It is scary, I know, but you are almost there! Remember: THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!!!!

I'm in the same boat as you, almost exactly. Prepare notes to give to the court or read out loud. Its best to be and feel prepared. Keep it clear and concise. Remember to be honest so your not caught in any lies. Go on the offence, don't just defend. This is a big mistake many people make. Basically you have to stand your ground and also take ground from the other party as is just under the law. Ask for everything you deserve. Be stern about it. Leave no room for any affectionate feeling you may still have towards the other party, as this will weaken you position and open you up to many abuses. I'm giving you this all after making these mistakes myself. I was getting creamed by the other side until i started taking these positions. Positions held by the other side from the bigining. It all caught me off gaurd. I wanted another crack at them. I was so taken aback by the attacks on me by someone who had previously pledged to love me and care for me the rest of my life. It went right up to the point of signing a settlement when i said to myself, i'm getting screwed here (out 70,000) unfairly. I said f**k that and fired my lawyer. He was just a waste of time and was fighting me more than taking the fight to the other side. He drained me. It was ridiculous. Most of the paperwork is done now i just need a settlement of judgment. judging by the other side's posturing i will have to take it to trial. Like i said i'm not leaving anything on the table. F**k her. She deserves it after the infidelity. my previous lawyer said her lawyer doesn't give an inch.... who cares. Law is law. Time to see a judge then. I know i am entitled under the law to ask and receive certain things for the damage she has caused me. I even checked with other council. Her lawyer just tries to wear me down and is a real piece of crap for making the demands she has made. That's what the courts are for. To straighten everything out. I would recommend everybody take their case to trial to make sure your not having your rights trampled by lawyers (it could even be your own paid council doing it) Judges are great and very smart. a lot smarter than any lawyer. you should be in good hands. I requested i reply in writting instead of vervally and i was granted this by the judge. i told them i cant formulate my thoughts when speaking out loud. So i sit here now preparing such documents.

Court was actually awesome. I can't believe I am saying that, but it was! We've been before a judge several times already in this contested and complicated divorce, and it has always been stressful for me. I have previously always walked away feeling like I should have said or done more.

Well today I spoke up, was clear and organized, the judge listened to me, and my stbx looked pretty awful when I documented all the problems he's caused for me AND other professionals in our case so far.

Also, we have an end date / trial date!! IN only a few more months my nightmare will be over.
