Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
And people here constantly refer to the rollercoaster effect .....one day you are feeling strong, can handle things, see through the bull.... then somehow you are triggered and feel lonely, unloved, guilty and fault-ridden, even though you may have little fault at all. Perhaps yo had no say at all. But your marriage is gone, and you feel awful.
You have lost much and are on a journey of self re-discovery and necessary bone and soul deep healing. I don't think recovery works in a linear fashion for many. Rather, we step forward, as in finding new interests, or rediscovering former ones, engaging in life again. Then backward: news of x's new affairs/doing that exclude you, holidays approaching and your former routines and holiday celebrations completely diverted by the destruction that is divorce.
I find, as I f=go up and down, that the days are getting more manageable, and the realization that he may never have been the man I gave him full credit for being all those years. A good person would NOT ever do what he has done. Love does not express itself that way.
What many of us here seem to experience as our unions dissolve is complete uncontrolled self-indulgence of the most toxic kind coupled with lack of impulse control on the part of our partners, and exposure to the results of those forces can be traumatic.
It will take time and patience and will, but you will feel better and better. Time is your friend, so embrace it....
I send fond hopes that the time will pass quicker than you realize, and your recovery will be robust and arriving SOON.
Hugs!
