Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
This is just a guess, obviously, but I could see my mother doing something like that.
I would have assumed your parents said something, too but it sounds like they are not comfortable with this. Sorry. Hugs.
However your parents should be informing their siblings(aunts and uncles) who should tell their kids(your cousins). You have to tell your friends and co-workers.
Thats just how its done, like no one wants to run around saying hey I miscarried! So they tell their parents and word gets around. Its a just the poliet thing to do so that those(you & your stbx) going through the crisis(divorce, miscarriage, etc) do not have to start every conversation with "We seperated......"
I guess I would have expected my Dad to tell any aunts and uncles if he were in contact with them, since talking about the family is the main focus of their conversations. And I'm not clear if your were separated or divorced. If you were separated, your parents may have just wanted to wait and see the end result. It can be tough if a couple goes through tough times, everyone knows, and then they get back together. But if you were actually divorced, it would have been natural for them to mention it.
it's unlikely that anything you do or say will change the way your parents feel about the situation. don't really have any advice to give here, except that i think both you and your parents need space to heal. you can't change what they think or do, and vice versa.
